Helen's Hospital Bill

First, Thanks St. Luke's. It was the best ER and overnight treatment I have ever had. Now, the bill (very oddly not detailed, I am sure the insurance company will ask for more details):

Pharmacy: 6.50
IV Therapy: 102.50
Lab: 3,223.00
Radiology-Diagnostic: 326.00
ER: 2,500.00
Cardiology: 2,922.00
Drugs required specific ID: 224.50
EKG/ECG: 628.00
Observation: 1,041.84
Other Therapeutic Services: 591.00

Total: 11,564.84

Wow! That's like a new car. I was guessing in my head $5K, but that doesn't even cover the ER visit and the Cardio costs. I wonder if it would have been the same if I went to a non-cardio specialty hospital? But I am glad I went where I did and when I did.

How does my Insurance company pay for "other therapeutic services" for $591? What does that mean? Seriously those were verbatim descriptions.

This doesn't even count the bills I have already got for the ER doc ($550) and X-Ray tech ($200).

I am glad I live in the USA where I can choose the best healthcare available to me! At least for now....
